Judith Lynne French

Judith Lynne French, loved by her family, passed away on January 4, 2022, at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City, KS at the age of 84. She was born on November 14, 1937 in Cedar Vale, KS to Everett and Matilda (Dudgeon) Huddle.

Judy was a graduate of Cedar Vale High School, class of 1955. After graduation she attended business school. She married Lowell French on May 6, 1956 and they started farming and raising a family outside of Grenola, KS. She was a member of the Grenola United Methodist Church. She was a past 4-H club leader. She was a talented cook, seamstress, and quilter. She loved to read, play on her computer, and make her family’s favorite foods.

Judy stayed home raising her children until they were of school age. Then, she started her career in food and nutrition. She was the head cook at the school in Grenola, KS. She then cooked at nursing homes in Cedar Vale and Dexter, KS. She owned the Flint Hills Café in Grenola, KS for 6 years. She also cooked for and managed the Grenola Senior Center before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Phyllis Hawkins; and her two brothers, Curtis Huddle and Cordas Huddle.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lowell French; 6 children- Alan (Linda) French, Michelle French-Scott, Janet French, Robert (JoAnn) French, Gayle (Jeff) Brown, and Roger (Reann) French, a brother-in-law Lyle French; 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Grenola United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola.
