Carla Jane Weston

Carla Jane (Youell) Weston passed from her earthly life January 3, 2022. She was born November 19, 1955 in McAlester, Oklahoma to the union of N.E. “Rastus” and Lois Youell.

The Youell’s moved to Baxter Springs, Kansas when Carla was 1 year old. She attended Baxter schools and was in the graduating class of 1973.

Carla was united in marriage to David Weston January 22, 1973. She would soon become the one thing she loved being, a momma. Being able to stay at home with her babies brought her so much joy. She not only raised her three, but was able to snuggle and love on her niece and nephew until they started school.

Once all of her littles were in school, Carla couldn’t stay away from all the kids. She began her ever changing journey as a para educator in 1993. She retired from USD 508 in May of 2021. During her 28-year career, she wore many hats at Lincoln Elementary. Carla was a classroom aide, computer lab teacher, art teacher, librarian, bus duty aide, tooth puller, and the best laminator fixer around. Though all of her “hats” were rewarding, her ultimate reward was being able to don her grandma hat. Carla loved chasing her kids and grandkids to every type of ball game or event that came along. She was always there with a smile and a hug, no matter the outcome.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, David, of the home. Other survivors include her three children: Craig (Leslie), Shan, Kami (Mike). Grandchildren: Jade Noble, Jocee Laraine, Lillian Grace, Brady Liam, Isaiah Anthony, Alex Nicole. Sister Gail (Rod), niece Kristin (Cody), nephew Riley (Kayla). Great nieces and nephew: Hayden, Karson, Kylie, Kensington, Kelsie.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m., until service time. Carla has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. Memorial donations may be made out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
