Pitt State rolls by Tabor; Gerber posts first career double-double

PITTSBURG, Kan. – (WATCH) Pitt State tops Tabor College 86-53 Wednesday night.

Freshman Karenna Gerber posts her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sydney Holmes (12 pts, 7 reb), Tristan Gegg (11 pts), Jayme Jackson (11 pts, 4 ast) and Sydnee Crain (10 pts) were also in double figures for Pitt State.

The Gorillas return to MIAA play Saturday at Missouri Western.

The Pittsburg State University women’s basketball team utilized a balanced offensive attack to breeze to an 86-53 victory over Tabor College Wednesday (Dec. 19) afternoon at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Sydney Holmes paced five Pitt State players in double figures with 12 points. Tristan Gegg and Jayme Jackson added 11 points apiece, while Sydnee Crain and Karenna Gerber finished with 10 apiece. Erin Davis and Emma Martin chipped in with eight point each. Gerber posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. She added three blocked shots.

Pitt State (9-3) shot 56.1 percent from the field in the game, making 32 of 57 shots against the NAIA member Blue Jays.

Tabor got a team-leading 12 points from Zoe Shieldnight.

The Gorillas will return to MIAA action Saturday (Jan. 1) when they travel to St. Joseph, Mo., to face Missouri Western State University at 5 p.m.
