Sachiko Collins, 88, of Pittsburg, passed away at 11:44 p.m., Friday, December 24, 2021, at the Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg.
She was born March 26, 1933, in Akita Ken, Japan. She married John Collins in January of 1961 in Tokyo, Japan. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1999.
John was in the Air Force and he and Sachiko were transferred to New York for several years before settling in Erie, Kansas in 1967. Sachiko moved to Pittsburg in 2006 where she helped her daughter operate the Fabric Care Center from 2006-2010 and later had a house cleaning business until 2019. She enjoyed going to the casino and baking snacks for family and friends.
Sachiko is survived by her daughter, Sandy of Pittsburg and adopted daughter Alyssa Firley of Mapleton. She was a beloved “Mom and Grandma” to a large extended family of sons, daughters, grandchildren and friends. Alex Herod, Jennifer Herod, Mandy Herod and Michele Meins, Steve Beykirch and Bailey, Bradley, Sam and Brenn. Jill Buck, Paula Totman, Jana Beykirch, Todd and Brenda Brynds and family, Chris Curtis and family, Michelle McFarland, Monica Kellogg, Karen Fleck and Paula Gilmore.
The family would like to thank Erin Knox and Pinamonti Physical Therapy, Dr. Ron Edwards, Debbie Harper, Girard Hospital and Kannarr Eye Care for the excellent care over the past two years.
