Cherokee County man sentenced to life in prison for 2020 murders

COLUMBUS, Kan. – Judge sentences Mark Hopkins II to life in prison following murder investigations.

Last month, Hopkins pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree premeditated murder.

Today, Senior Judge Robert Fleming in Cherokee County gave Hopkins the sentence without the possibility of parole for 50 years.

According to the police, the crime occurred in June 2020. It resulted in the deaths of Blaze Swank and Kylan Shook in Cherokee County.

Hopkins has related charges against another defendant that remain pending.
