Anderson suspect arrested after threatening others with a firearm

MCDONALD COUNTY. – Police arrest man after a search leads to the seizure of drugs and a firearm.

On December 24th, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm on Highway 71 near Boonslick Lodge.

Callers alerted dispatch of a male subject pointing a gun at others, according to the McDonald County Sherriff’s Office.

Before the authorities arrived, 911 dispatchers advised the responding units of more potential reports involving a firearm.

Quick chase

The first police officers on the scene determined the subject with the firearm ran to McDonald’s.

When deputies arrived at McDonald’s, a short foot chase ensued with deputies detaining the subject.

On the scene

As the investigation unfolded, the police determined that the suspect had pointed his handgun at two individuals in a vehicle.
The suspect then intentionally struck their vehicle and entered the Boonslick Lodge, proceeding to point the firearm at another male subject.
The suspect then attempted to dispose of the firearm by throwing it in a bathroom trashcan, according to the authorities.
Deputies were able to recover the firearm and search the suspect’s car, discovering methamphetamine and other drug-related paraphernalia.

Charges

The suspect is currently in the McDonald County jail and awaits charges.
