Myrtle James, 82, of Frontenac, died at 6:17 p.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021 at her son’s home in Mulberry.
Myrtle was born December 28, 1938 in Arcadia, a daughter of George and Edna (Dorman) Peterson. She attended Girard Schools and graduated from Girard High School.
She worked in Pittsburg as a hostess at the Holiday Inn, at the Crowell Drug Store, and for 30 years in production at Pitt Plastics.
She attended Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg and she was a member of the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion Auxiliary in Girard.
Myrtle enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Ray (Pam) James of Mulberry and a daughter, Mandy (Jason) Holt of Girard; her sisters, Dorothy Richard of Bakersfield, California, Betty Peterson of Hemit, California, and Pat Stevens of Girard; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her companion of over 40 years, Bill Ashmore; a sister, Doris Geier, her brothers George Peterson and Archie Peterson.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Farlington Cemetery with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will follow the services.
