Pitt State QB Sexton to enter transfer portal

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg State quarterback Mak Sexton has announced that he will enter the transfer portal and leave PSU after four years with the program.

Sexton threw for 2,180 yards and 16 touchdowns for Pitt State this season. The sophomore QB made 10 starts, but was replaced by freshman Chad Dodson, Jr. in the 2nd quarter of Pitt State’s game against Washburn in week 10.

Dodson started the team’s final game of the season in week 11 against Fort Hays State, while Sexton didn’t take another snap.

Sexton has been one of the most productive quarterbacks in Pitt State history. The Texas product finishes his Pitt State career with 4,883 passing yards and 37 touchdowns. 4,883 passing yards puts Sexton at #6 on the PSU all-time passing list.

Sexton redshirted in 2018. His freshman season in 2019 he threw for 1,694 yards and 13 touchdowns while splitting time at quarterback with Brandon Mlekus.

In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Sexton threw for 1,009 yards and 8 touchdowns in four games – before posting career-highs in yards and touchdowns this fall (2,180 yds, 16 TD) for Pitt State.
