NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – Veteran’s Day is today, but Newton County decided to honor our nation’s heroes early. The county hosted an event at the county courthouse in Neosho. David Osborn served as guest speaker. He’s a retired Army National Guard Sergeant and current County Commissioner.

EDNA, Kan. – The Edna Mattress Factory in Edna, Kansas is open again after a fire destroyed the factory back in June. No one was hurt and the nearby retail facility was spared. The company president was miles away when he got the call that the factory was burning.

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas celebrates all the grants they handed out this year. The foundation provides funds for charitable projects in southeast Kansas. At their annual grant celebration, officials announced they handed out more than $232-thousand dollars in grants this year.

NEVADA, Mo. – An organization is trying to create more affordable transportation in southwest Missouri. West Central Missouri Community Action Agency created the “Rides to Health and Wealth Project,” a volunteer-led transportation network. Officials say the goal of the project is to provide more transportation opportunities in rural areas. You can learn more here. They serve the following Missouri Counties: Bates, Benton, Cass, Henry, Hickory, St. Claire, Morgan, Cedar and Vernon Counties.
