NEVADA, Mo. – Operation Christmas Child held a donation lunch Sunday in Nevada. Each year the organization raises money and collects items for children in need to ensure they have a good Christmas. Sunday’s taco lunch helped collect items for kids ages 2 to 9 and cash to help with shipping fees. It also allowed folks to learn more about Operation Christmas Child and its mission.
ASBURY, Mo. – U.S. Senator from Missouri Roy Blunt is making his way around the Show-Me state highlighting a bill he’s sponsoring aimed at conservation. Senator Blunt says the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act would support the long-term health of fish and wildlife habitats all across America by investing in proactive, on-the-ground conservation work. As part of his tour, he stopped by the Wah-Sha-She Prairie in Asbury on Friday.
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. – The Baxter Springs police department is asking for residents’ to make sure their addresses are clearly marked. Officers say they’ve had some difficulty recently locating homes that have requested emergency help. The city ordinance says addresses must be clearly marked using contrasting colors and those addresses must be at least three inches in size.
NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – A Newton County high school senior is using her art to help others. Kristen Coffey, is calling on her YouTube viewers to commission drawings, for donations to Saint Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital. She’ll create the drawing for a $5 dollar donation and thus far, she’s raked in $3,000 dollars in three weeks.
