Kelly Melugin

Kelly Ann Melugin, 58, of Joplin, MO passed away following an unexpected heart attack on October 21, 2021.

Her children and sisters were at her side.
Kelly was born on August 12, 1963 at St. John’s Hospital in Joplin.

She was, by all accounts, a spitfire right from the start. Her parents were Patsy K. (Sitton) Summers originally of Lamar, MO, and Albert Gerauld “Jerry” Thomas of Webb City, MO; her step dad was James “Jim” L Isbell of Joplin. All preceded her in death.
Kelly was a Medication Aide who found her calling caring for people in assisted living centers, retirement homes, and within their homes. She loved working with seniors and said they
had the best jokes and stories which she liked swapping with them.

She had a rare gift for helping people in memory care.

Kelly’s hobbies included hunting for unique items at rummage sales, antique malls, flea markets, and any shops she passed; cheering on the Chiefs and the Royals; making friends everywhere and helping them with anything; collecting crafts and visiting crafts fairs and festivals; collecting recipes and cooking up a delicious dinner; rocking out to all kinds of music and attending concerts whenever she could; spending a day at the creek or the lake; and talking about going fishing more than she actually got around to going. Her son likes to say that Kelly
was an avid collector of all things.

Her children and grandchildren were the lights of her life; she taught them how to love fiercely.

She is survived by her 3 children: Brittany Melugin of Kansas City, MO, Breanna Melugin, and Nicholas Melugin both of Springfield, MO, and by her 5 grandchildren: Remington, Karsen, Victoria, Bradley, and Aubree.

She is also survived by her two sisters, Teri Slater of Webb City, and Julie Wilton of Joplin; three nephews and one niece, seven great nieces and nephews; and her many dear, life-long friends. Kelly will be very deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Bonfire will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 just outside of Joplin. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
