Verna E. Kmiec

Verna E. Kmiec, 88 of Girard passed away at 4:17 p.m., October 28, 2021 at the Cox Heath Hospital of Lamar, Missouri.

Verna was born March 21, 1933 in Hepler, Kansas the daughter of Harry Clause and Martha (Tiedemann) Reith.

She attended school in Hepler

On November 28, 1951, Verna, and Eugene “Gene” Kmiec were united in marriage at the Immanual Lutheran Church, Hepler, Kansas, he survives of the home.

Verna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was employed by the Smith Funeral Home of Girard and later the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Girard. Verna was a member of the Immanual Lutheran Church and the AAL, and she enjoyed bowling
In addition to her husband, Verna is survived by two daughters: Lisa G. Short and her husband Dary of Bella Vista Arkansas, Shari Mason and her husband Dennis of Holden, Missouri, one sister; Evelyn Morris of Winfield, Kansas, grandchildren; Trisha Bahr (Dennis), Jeromy Short (Shanna), Justin Kmiec, Alicia Short, Christie Orton (Justin), Shylo Achtenberg (Shawn), Casey Short, Brett Mason (Bailey), Denise Mason, great-grandchildren; Maddison Bahr, Kinley Bahr, Hallee Bahr, Tyler short, Aaliyah Short, Kolby Kmiec, Landon Kmiec, Daxten Kmiec, Jordan Brown, Kailey Mincks (Isaac), Addley Orton, Brantley Orton, Mattix McCallum, Couper Achtenberg. Layla Achtenberg, Blake Mason; great-great grandchild, Ezra Mincks.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Jimmy Kmiec, one brother; Loren Reith, and one granddaughter; Tanya Kmiec.
Services for Verna E. Kmiec will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the Immanual Lutheran Church of Hepler with Pastor Caleb Stoever officiating, burial will be in the Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2.
