JOPLIN, Mo. – The Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center had 4-staters racing against the clock in a nature escape room. Groups had 30 minutes to solve clues and puzzles that would teach them new things about different Missouri species. This event was a different pace from the education events they normally host, and a naturalist with the center says they hope it helped area residents learn something new.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Shoal Creek got some TLC Friday thanks to the work of volunteers. Folks worked along the creek’s shore and in the water itself, making sure it stays trash-free for 4-states visitors to enjoy.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Some 8th graders from Joplin’s South Middle School got an early start to their Saturday in downtown. The students spent their morning planting flowers in the city’s planters along main street from 1st to 8th Street and along Joplin Avenue around 6th Street. The group planted fall flowers to help keep the planters fresh and pretty through the season.

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. – Plenty of people were on hand for the fall work day event over at Joplin’s Peace Church Cemetery this weekend. The event was organized by the Peace Church Cemetery Association. Helping out with the cemetery clean up were 50 to 60 cadets with the Joplin ROTC. Volunteers assisted with tree limb and weed removal, and also placed section markers throughout the cemetery.

SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT: Vaccine Policies… A number of college seniors at San Francisco State University are concerned over whether they will be able to finish their final semester. The new vaccination policy requires all students, even those taking online classes, to submit vaccination cards or request an exemption to avoid a spring registration hold.
