Melvin L. Moss, 79, of rural Monett, MO, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Melvin was born on May 10, 1942 in Carthage, MO, son of the late Oren and Irene (Lynn) Moss. Melvin graduated from Purdy High School with the class of 1961. At the age of 12, Melvin began working at his father’s grocery store, Moss Market. During his fifty years in the business, Melvin also worked at Food Town and Econo Foods, eventually retiring from Moss Market. Melvin was a loving Christian man, holding his family closest to his heart.

Melvin is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Betty Moss, of the home; one son, Randy Moss and wife Glenda, of Bella Vista, AR; four daughters, Rocksannia Alvarado and husband David, of Joplin, Liz Stewart and husband Kevn, of Monett, Becky Brown, of Monett and Sarah Carr and husband Greg, of Springfield, MO; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; as well as a loving host of extended family and friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Russell Moss.

Funeral services for Melvin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Home. David Keeling will be officiating. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
