Seniors aim to lead PSU women this winter

Pitt State has four seniors on this year’s roster and returns three starters from last season – including former local high school standouts Tristan Gegg (Labette Co.) and Sydnee Crain (Girard).

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University women’s basketball team was picked seventh in both the 2021-22 MIAA Preseason Coaches & Media Polls released today (Oct. 12).

The Gorillas received 94 points in the coaches poll and 70 points in the media poll.

Fort Hays State University was the preseason No. 1 selection of the MIAA coaches, while FHSU and the University of Central Missouri shared top honors in the media poll.

Pitt State returns three starters from its 2020-21 squad. The Gorillas open exhibition action on O when Nov. 5 when Gorillas travel to Manhattan, Kan., to face Kansas State University.
