Four-legged fun at the Maple Leaf Festival dog show

CARTHAGE, Mo. – There was more than just a chili cook-off during Sunday’s Maple Leaf Festival celebration in Carthage.

Central Park also hosted the Carthage Humane Society’s annual dog show.

People and their pups competed in 12 different categories, but with so many cool and cute dogs on display, anybody who came for the fun was automatically a winner.

And the dogs being cared for by the Carthage Humane Society were also winners in their own way. That’s because the money the show raised will go towards keeping them happy and healthy while they wait for their forever homes.

Some of the dog show’s competitive categories included best pet and owner look-alikes and best tail wag.

The dog show also doubled as a Carthage Humane Society adoption event, and following the show, folks got to enjoy a wiener dog race.
