Ethelwyn (Winnie) Strong, of Monett, MO, passed away on September 24th at the age of 82. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Stewart (Stu) Strong, children Charles (Amanda) Strong, Mark Strong, Jeanie Strong, Diana Strong, and Donna (Luke) Dohmen. She also has one surviving brother, Earl Greenman of Florida. She was known as Grandma to 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Winnie was born in Marion Township, Michigan to Earl and Dorothy Greenman on November 9, 1938. She married Stewart Strong on January 3rd, 1959. They lived in Michigan for a short time before moving to Long Island where Stu was stationed in the United States Air Force. In 1961, they moved to Monett, where they have resided since.
Winnie worked for years at The Black Kettle restaurant and spent many years working in the food service industry including the Monett High School cafeteria.
Dementia took Winnie from us much too soon, and now we feel the complete loss of her. Winnie loved to read, do picture puzzles and later in life, play golf. We smile knowing that the things she loved to do, she is now free to do again.
Funeral service for Winnie will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27th 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Reverend Walt Hamer will be officiating. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Monett. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions have been requested to Compassus in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
