Murder charge filed in fatal Nevada shooting

NEVADA, Mo. – Prosecutors charge a man with first-degree murder in a fatal Nevada shooting.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, around 7:05 p.m., Nevada Police and Vernon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunshots fired. They went to a parking lot in the 2400 block of E. Austin Boulevard.

Authorities found a man inside a vehicle that had sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel took him by ambulance to the Nevada Regional Medical Center. Authorities identified the man as 32-year-old Justin Goolsby of Nevada. He later died at the Medical Center.

Near the scene, police took one person into custody. He’s identified as Steven Vignolo, 62, of Nevada.

On September 23, 2021, prosecutors filed several charges against Vignolo in the Vernon County Associate Court. Charges included first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Vignolo is currently in the Vernon County Jail without bond.
