Marguerite E. Naanes

Marguerite E. Naanes, 96, of rural Erie, passed away at 10:40 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

She was born on August 2, 1925, in Reno, Nevada, where she attended Reno schools and graduated from Reno High School in 1942. Marguerite then went to work at the Stead Air Force Base as a payroll clerk during World War II.

Marguerite and E. Rex Naanes were married on June 25, 1948, in Reno, Nevada. Over the course of their life together, she and Rex lived in Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and settled in Kansas when Rex retired from the United States Forest Service.

Marguerite enjoyed bingo, reading, puzzles, playing cards, being outdoors, and visiting with friends. She and Rex were touched by nature, trees, flowers, and countless smiling friends.

She is survived by her son, Theodore E. Naanes, and his wife, Linda, of West Valley City, UT; her daughter, Cathy Naanes of rural Erie; her granddaughter, Julie Naanes, of Dallas, TX; her grandson, Michael Naanes and his wife, Kimberly, and her great-grandsons, Julian and Beckett Naanes of Murray, UT.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her sister, Marie; her husband, Rex; and her daughter, Barbara.

Private family services will be held at the Cleveland Cemetery in Kingman County, Kansas. The family would like to thank the staff at Prairie Mission Retirement Village for the loving care they gave Marguerite.
