Brenda Ann Plagmann

Brenda Ann Plagmann, age 82, of Joplin, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Freeman Hosptial West in Joplin.

Brenda, daughter of the late Brent and Anna (Evans) Wagner, was born on Febuary 7, 1939 in Joplin. She grew up and attended school in Joplin graduating from Joplin High School with the class of 1957. Brenda was a talented and accomplished pianist and musician. From a young age she began singing and playing accompaniment in churches, for choirs, soloists, and other muscial performers, which is where she met her future husband, Johnny Plagmann. They were united in marriage on December 27, 1957 in Joplin. Together they enjoyed their love for music and raising their three children until Febuary 13, 1994 when Johnny passed away. Brenda was an active member of Park Plaza Christian Church, a former board member of the Joplin Community Concert Association, and for over 20 years a member of the “Keenagers” musical group. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors and would regularly visit those who were in nursing homes, hospitals, and shut-ins. She was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include one son, Steve Plagmann, of Joplin; two daughters, Sherri Hicks, and her husband, Larry, of Webb City, and Susan Voros, and her husband, Frank, of Joplin; one brother, David Wagner, of Blue Springs; three grandchildren, Kristen Taylor, and her husband, Ben, of Carrara, Australia, Eli Hicks, and his wife, Lindsey, of Denver, Colorado and Garrett Voros, of Joplin; two step-grandchildren, Jake Voros, and his wife, Jessica, of Tulsa, and Jessica Turner, and her husband, Jay, of Tulsa; one niece, Stephanie Kirkham, of Blue Springs, Mo; and her beloved dachshund, Annie. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one nephew, John David Wagner.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Park Plaza Christian Church in Joplin with minister B.A. Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Open viewing will be available during normal viewing hours on Monday, September 13th at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Park Plaza Christian Church and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Arrangments are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
