Teddy W. Jones

Teddy W. Jones Sr., 61 of Columbus, KS, passed away Friday July 30, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 17,1960 to Wayne and JoAnn Jones in Columbus, KS. He lived most of his life in Cherokee County and attended South East High School in Cherokee, KS.

Ted was a hard worker and his main goal was to care for his family regardless of the job and it showed thru out his many years of work. From making bricks, building bridges, driving the road as a truck driver, cutting meat, to becoming a machinist at Superior and then a custodian at USD 247. He always held a high work ethic and people like to work with him and he made a lot of life long friends in the process.

While working at Superior he met his future wife and soul mate. In October2002 he married Shari (Hale) Melton and with that union his family doubled and he accepted 2 more children into his family and he called them his own, he was their dad and they were his children.

He was a member of the Riverton Boat and Ski Club. He enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie he exchanged with the members and the much needed time on the water boating with good friends.

He liked to go camping and loved to do that with his family and friends. As long as Ted had a good fire, water near by to wet a line, and cold Busch light, he was content and at his happiest.

Ted was a good man, great husband, and wonderful father, and many that knew him would not dispute that claim. He loved his family and he passed on that same work ethic to his children and he was so proud of their accomplishments and the adults they had grown to be.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Shari of the home. Children Teddy Jones (Danyelle) of Palmer, Tx, Danielle Deford (Matt) of Waxahachie, Tx, Zachary Melton of the home, Emilee Melton (Eddie) of Humboldt, Ks. Grandchildren, his pride and joys, Atreyu, Kingston, Zander, and Layla; Sister Tammie Taylor (Robert) of Weir, Ks, Brother David Jones, of Cherokee, KS, and many beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and JoAnn Jones, brother Alfred Jones, and a sister April Marie Jones. We would like to take the time to express our thanks to Harry Hynes Hospice Care for the wonderful care and help given to Ted and family in his time of need.

Celebration of Life will be held October 9, 2021 at the Spring River Boat and Ski Club, 7663 SE River Rd, Galena, Ks at 3 PM. Pastor Aaron Williams will be officiating the services.

He will be greatly missed!
