Mary Jeane (Ruby) Kane

Mary Jeane (Ruby) Kane, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Hospice House, North Kansas City Hospital.  She was born in Schell City, MO on April 29, 1940, the first child of Helen Louise (Losey) and William Vernon Ruby, and the first grandchild of Mary Louise (Keyhill) and Eugene Oliver Losey.

Mary graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas, Class of 1958.  She worked as a legal secretary, and also for Armour and Company, and Galanba Metals. In 1974 Mary joined Southwestern Bell Telephone, later (AT&T) and held several management positions before retiring in 2000.

Mary and John Richard Kane were married on November 24, 1988 at Platte Woods Christian Church.  They enjoyed traveling and spending time in the mountains. John preceded her in death on August 11, 2017

Mary was an accomplished photographer and crafter. Her creativity overflowed into the houses of family and friends.  She loved her flower gardens, her animals, feeding the birds, and swimming in Lake Waukomis on a hot summer day.

In addition to her husband, John, she is preceded in death by, her parents, aunts and uncles, and a sister, June Elaine Perkins.

Mary is survived by four sisters, Anne Blackett (John) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Linda Baird of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kaye Carney of Kansas City, Missouri, and Cathy Gripka (Ralph) of Tonganoxie, Kansas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Mary will be missed by her family, many neighbors, and lifelong friends.

A graveside committal service for Mary and John Kane, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City, MO.
