Terry Monroe Hughes passed into the welcoming arms of Jesus, July 23, 2021. There he was met by his mother, Katherine Hughes. Her devotion and gentleness remained the warmest memories of his life. Hers was a love that actually gave him strength and compassion. He loved to hunt and fish which were skills his deceased father, Chester M. Hughes, taught him at an early age. He is survived by his sister, Diana Gotwals aka “Sissy” and two beautiful nieces, Kelsie and Katie Wells. He would always give them what he called “crisp” hundred-dollar bills for Christmas. His railroad years and friendships were especially remembered with a smile. One can only imagine all the mischief those years brought! In his retirement, he moved to a country home on lake Keystone outside Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He enjoyed every aspect of this beautiful setting. Nature and his 3 little dogs became his favorite refuge. He laughed at Tiny, Dingo and Buddy with their antics always feeding them before himself. He loved the baby owls, the baby squirrels who watched him wash dishes, the deer that watched tv through the windows in the evenings, the ducks on the pond, wild turkeys and every aspect of a simple life brought him extreme joy! Friends dropping by would be offered a cold beer and a chair on the deck under a shade tree. But often there would be an additional delight as he fancied himself a great cook. His wit, humor and generosity will be remembered by all that knew him. He viewed life as many chapters. Each with its own journey.
Today he is at peace having lived a vibrant life to its fullest. This is not a good bye but rather a see you later. Love you always Terry
