Mary Rosanna “Zana” (Boone) Botzow

Mary Rosanna “Zana” (Boone) Botzow, 75, of rural Monett, MO passed from this life on Monday, July 26, 2021 while at her home with family at her side.

Zana, as she was known by those close to her, was born on August 7, 1945 in Harlingen, TX, daughter of the late Lloyd Wilbur Boone and Josephine Elizabeth (Winkler) Boone. Her father served in the U.S. Air Force while she was young, traveling to different parts of the country, and at 15, the family lived in Turkey. Once moving back to the United States, Zana graduated from Huntsville High School, Huntsville, AR, with the class of 1963. Zana furthered her education, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Dramatic Arts in 1968 from the College of the Ozarks (now the University of the Ozarks) in Clarksville, AR. Zana later taught English at Brunswick High School in Brunswick, OH.

On August 16, 1964, Zana married William Earle Strain “Bill” Botzow at her family residence in Hindsville, AR. Shortly after moving to Monett in 1980, she and Bill were blessed with the birth of their son, Aaron, in 1981 and then their daughter, Theresa, in 1984.

Zana enjoyed being at home raising her children throughout their childhood. She was also a member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church for over thirty-five years where she had been an Elder, Clerk of Session and Stated Cleric for the Presbyterian for three years. Zana was also an instrumental part of the Lions Club International, being a member of the Monett Lions Club for over thirty years. During her time with the Lions, she had been the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow, received the Dalstrom Award and had served as District Governor.

Zana will be lovingly be remembered by her husband, Bill Botzow; her son, Aaron Michael Botzow and his wife Juwana Lynn Botzow; her daughter, Theresa Dawn Kee and her husband Jeramy Dean Kee; her ten grandchildren whom she loved immensely, Addison Makinze Botzow, Aaden Michael Botzow, Alyssa Madalyn Botzow, Aliah Marie Botzow, Amiah Marlee Botzow, Annsley Marie Botzow, Abbygail Mae Botzow, Juliana Lynn Botzow, Jaylee Layken Botzow and Jaydelyn Lainey Botzow; one brother, Gordon Boone and his wife Betty Boone; one sister, Carla Klein; one nephew, Lee Allen Boone; and one niece, Sabrina Klein and her husband Tony Wahl.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church with Reverend Randy Crane and Reverend Walt Hamer officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldensian Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 1-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial donations have been suggested to the Waldensian Presbyterian Church or the Lions Club International Foundation – Disaster Relief in care of the funeral home. Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
