Lee Carrington, age 59, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. He was born August 27, 1961, in Monett, Missouri, the son of Edgar and Melba (Jones) Carrington.
Lee was a 1981 graduate of Miller High School, in Miller, Missouri. After graduation and technical school, he worked in the food service department at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, retiring after 31 years. He was a long-time active member of the Mt. Vernon Lions Club. He was also a member of a Ham radio club and enjoyed communicating with people near and far. Lee was a huge wrestling fan as well as Hot Rods, Rock and Roll and the Kansas City Chiefs. Lee didn’t know a stranger and was always up for a visit and a smile.
Lee is survived by his mother, Melba, of Mt. Vernon; one niece, Brandy Kluthe and her husband, John of Clinton, New Jersey; one nephew, Bo Garrett and his wife, Anna, of La Cruz, Mexico; two great-nephews, Garrett and Luke Kluthe; one great-niece, Kira Kluthe, all of Clinton, New Jersey; one brother-in-law, Butch Garrett, of Battlefield, Missouri; one uncle, Bill Jones and his wife, Marge of Miller, and many, many friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Edgar and his sister, Patty Garrett.
A graveside, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Sycamore Cemetery in Miller.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon where Lee was a member.
