Cecil Arthur North Jr., 78, of Columbus, KS passed from this life suddenly on Thursday, July 22, 2021 while at work.
Cecil was born August 3, 1942 in Picher, Oklahoma to the union of Cecil Arthur North Sr. and Eva Mae (Allsgood). Cecil was united in marriage to Della Newcomb on July 12, 1958. He was later married to Judy Norene North on February 14, 1976 in Picher, Oklahoma.
Cecil worked as a machinist for Ace Electric in Columbus, KS for many years. At one time he owned and operated his own gas station and worked for Baxter Discount before they closed. For the last seventeen years he had worked at PBI Gorden.
Cecil was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Columbus, KS and the Eagles and Cherokee County Sportsman’s Association. Cecil enjoyed horses, driving back country roads, hunting, fishing, and even racing trucks. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Sr. and Eva North; wife Judy North; siblings, Jimmy North, Donnie North, Kenny North, Bobbie Burnett, Judy Vanderflute; two children, Tammy Jo, and Howard Dale.
Cecil is survived by two children, Della Mae Campbell and husband Jim of Columbus, KS, and Cecil Dean North and wife Diana of Commerce, OK; three grandchildren, Becky Ross and husband Vernon, Rachel Miller and husband Jeff, and Lucas North and wife Krisha; four great grandchildren, Courtney Ross, Brock Ross, Drake North, Jaylee North; brother, Charlie North; sisters, Betty Tyree, and Doris Long; special friend, Shirley Morris; along with many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery, rural Columbus, KS. Rex Waldom will officiate.
