Mary Joann Ramsey

Mary Joann Ramsey, age 75, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away peacefully at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center, to be with her creator. She was born March 10, 1946, in Manchester, New Hampshire, the daughter of Pete and Jimmie (Bristow) Airnsworth.

Mary grew up in Dallas, Texas and was a 1964 graduate of Sunset High School, in Dallas. She worked several years as a school secretary and then was a secretary at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon and very active in the Eastern Star. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Mary had a strong presence in the Order of Eastern Star, serving as officers in four local chapters and one grand chapter. She was scheduled to be the escort for the Worthy Grand Patron Grand Chapter of Missouri OES in 2021, a title she was most proud of.

On January 22, 1976, Mary married George Ramsey, in Dallas. They were a devoted team up to Mary’s final breath.

Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years, George; three sons, Terry Ramsey and his wife, Becky, of Melissa, Texas, Larry Ramsey of Lancaster, Texas and Marty Ramsey of Randolph, Mississippi; seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren and one loving sister, Gloria Benton of Miami, Oklahoma.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Jimmie, and one sister, Elaine (Ainsworth) Donald.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the funeral home chapel. A private burial will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
