CARTHAGE, Mo. –A Carthage Hardware store is ensuring our nation’s flag is treated respectfully.
On Saturday, Carthage Hardware hosted a flag exchange.
Anyone could bring in an old flag or one they wanted to retire and would receive a new one.
The old flag would be retired with honor.
The Hardware store’s manager said it’s important to honor the American flag due to its importance to the nation.
“The flag, it’s a symbol. it symbols the united states, and one doesn’t just throw away the flag. its, people have died, people have fought, people are still fighting for what this flag stands for,” said Ben Isenmann.
The local Carthage Boy Scouts and a local veterans organization will be assisting in retiring the older flags with honor.
