Gabriel L. “Gabe” Johnson, 19, of Oswego, passed away at 12:14 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, following a traffic accident in rural Oklahoma.
He was born on January 8, 2002, to Mark K. and Beth M. (Plummer) Johnson in Joplin, Missouri. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Chetopa, graduating from Chetopa High School in 2020. Gabe had worked at the Bartlett Co-op and was currently working for Brady Farms.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chetopa. Fishing, hunting, riding four-wheelers and playing baseball were some of Gabe’s favorite things to do.

His parents – Mark and Beth Johnson of Oswego, Kansas
One brother – Kyle Johnson of Altamont, Kansas
Paternal grandparents – Bill and Dianna Johnson of Chetopa, Kansas
Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins
He was preceded in death by one sister, Emma Jo Johnson, in 2003; and his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Roberta Plummer.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Chetopa. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Facebook page.
