Rosetta M. Verga

Rosetta M. Verga 85, of Pittsburg, KS died 1:10pm Tuesday June 1, 2021 at her home following an illness. Rosetta was born February 8, 1936 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of Benjamin and Bessie (Locke) Jones. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Pittsburg High School.

On December 10, 1955 Rosetta married Bill Verga at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS. She loved taking care of her loved ones, from her mother and in-laws to her son Billy, her many foster children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Weekends were spent playing bingo or cards with relatives, and later on filled with her grandchildren and Sunday dinners. She loved spending Friday nights baking with her granddaughters and then cheering them on at endless sporting events. Her house was filled with laughter and love. She could be found with an embroidery hoop in her hands or dancing to Johnny Cash with her dog Daisy, who she was rarely seen without. The joy was clearly evident when she was with her family, especially rocking her great-grandbabies.

Survivors in include her husband; son Billy Verga and wife Kim of Pittsburg, KS; many foster children who she cared for over the years; grandchildren Annie Varsolona and husband Ryan of Frontenac, KS, Charli Stroud of Pittsburg, KS, Jenna Verga of Pittsburg, KS and Sara Verga of Tulsa, OK; great-grandchildren Ace, Jaxon, Bella and Gio Varsolona and Frankie and Stiles Stroud.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joe Jones, Martha Mary Varsolona, Deloris Redd, Ben Jones Jr., Virginia Lee Hedges, Betty JoAnne Jones and Leslie Dale Jones.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am Friday June 4, 2021 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS with Fr. Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Informal visitation will be from 2-8:00pm Thursday June 3, 2021 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Lord’s Diner. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Friskel Funeral Home 230 E. McKay Frontenac, KS 66763. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Friskel Funeral Home of Frontenac, KS.
