Ellen Marie Hollandsworth

Ellen Marie Hollandsworth of Commerce, OK passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the age of 91 years young.

Ellen was the 5th born to Thomas and Mary Ellen Hanlon on January 25, 1930 in St. John’s Newfoundland. She was raised Roman Catholic and schooled at Presentation Convent.
In 1946 she came to the United States to work for Senator Mitchell as a nanny for 6 months, then returned home to St. John’s to work at Pepperell Air Force Base. There she met and married MstSgt Alfred P. Hollandsworth on July 30, 1948. They traveled the U.S. for 22 years until his retirement in 1966 in Commerce, OK.

Their first daughter wasSandra Hollandsworth was born in St. John’s Newfoundland in 1950, second daughter Sharon Hollandsworth-Edmondson was born in San Marcos, TX in 1952 and third daughter Sherry Hollandsworth-White was born in Madison, WI in 1963.

Upon retirement Ellen and Alfred ran Al’s Electric Shop in North Miami untiil his death in 1974.
Ellen worked for Father Shrader at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the late 1970’s, Sirloin Stockade in the early 1980’s and Shangri-La in the late 1980’s. Her favorite job was working with her daughter and family at Lil’ Cafe in Commerce until her death.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Sharon, granddaughter Hollyanna, 2 son-in-laws Clarence Osborn and Dewayne Edmondson, all 10 brothers and sisters, Francis Baker, Mildred Kelly, Alice Frizzell, Mary Frizzell, Cyril Hanlon, Thomas Hanlon, Elizabeth More and Robert Hanlow.

Ellen is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Osborn and Shery White and her husband David, 8 grandchildren, Ryan Edmondson, DeAnna Edmondson, Angela Osborn, Clarence (Pete) Osborn,III, Scott Osborn, Tyson Hollandsworth, Dexter White and Blake White, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and so many nieces and nephews back home to list.

Anyone who knew her would never forget her. We wish to thank Carter Home Health, Integris Hospice and nurses, Dr. Grotheer and Laura Petrait for taking such good care of her near the end.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami with Rev. Samuel Perez officiating. Interment will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK with Ryan Edmondson, DeAnna Edmondson, Tyson Hollandsworth, Dexter White, Blake White and David White serving as pallbearers. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce, OK with visitation following from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
