J.O. Kenneth Smith, age 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at his home. He was born May 14, 1933, in Barry County, Missouri, the son of Joel Ownes and Mable Jewell (Holt) Smith.
J.O. was a 1952 graduate of Cassville High School in Cassville, Missouri. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving as a Medic while stationed in Germany. He was a shop foreman for Bayer Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
On December 10, 1955 he married Phyllis Jean Simpson in Lawrence County, Missouri.
J.O. is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis; two daughters, Sonia Park and her husband, Craig, of Westminster, Colorado and Vickie Park of Aurora, Colorado; six grandchildren, Danielle Park, Heidi Crispin and her husband, Jeremy, Abigail, Felicia, Whitney, and Levi Park; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Raley, of Aurora, Missouri and two brothers, David Atnip and his wife, Karen of Cassville, Missouri, and Jerry Atnip.
J.O. was preceded in death by his parents, Joel, and Mable; one brother, Kirby Smith and his son-in-law, Scott Park.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Marionville IOOF Cemetery in Marionville, Missouri.
