LABETTE COUNTY, Kan. – Two are dead following a crash in Labette County, Kansas. Authorities with the Kansas State Highway Patrol say it happened around 2:00pm on U.S. 59. They say a vehicle driven by 43-year old Jason Hopkins of Parsons crossed the center line and collided head on with 67-year old Robert Rowe of Oswego. Hopkins and Rowe were both pronounced dead at the scene. Hopkin’s passenger, 41-year old Jennifer Faller of Parsons was taken to the hospital with suspected serious injuries. ANDERSON, Mo. — The McDonald County Sheriff’s office says two suspects in an Anderson, Missouri shooting surrendered yesterday. Police say the shooting happened Tuesday around 8:30 pm on Stephens Drive. When officers arrived they found a man with gunshot wounds who was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Authorities say the man got into a fight with two other men who claimed he was hiding someone they were looking for. At some point that fight escalated to gunfire from both sides. The two suspects ran, but after being identified an attorney arranged the surrender of both men. Authorities have not filed formal charges.  (One man dies after shooting in Anderson, MO)

COLUMBUS, Kan. – There is now a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of Michael Martslof and Mark Hopkins II. The Cherokee County Sheriff says they escaped from the jail in Columbus through a plumbing system late Monday night. The men are considered armed and dangerous. Hopkins, was in jail in connection with a June double homicide, and Martslof was held on felony narcotic charges. Anyone with information should contact the Cherokee County Sheriff.  ($5,000 reward offered for escaped Cherokee County inmates )

FORT SCOTT, Kan. – The Fort Scott, Kansas Economic Development Director is suing the city, alleging discrimination based on her sex. Rachel Pruitt claims one of the city’s commissioners treated her differently than her male counterparts by spreading false rumors, singling her out for criticism, and threatening her job. In June of last year Pruitt was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, charges she claims are bogus. She was placed on unpaid leave for a short period. The day after she was charged, Pruitt filed a charge of discrimination with the Kansas Human Rights Commission based on sex discrimination, harassment and retaliation.  (City employee sues Fort Scott over discrimination, other allegations)
