The waves of heavy rain and t-storms from late this morning and through the afternoon and early evening hours led to tremendous amounts of rain within a very short period of time. While our northern counties saw a range between a tenth of an inch and 3 inches, our southern counties picked up the brunt of the heavy rainfall today. The amounts varied between 3 inches and 8 inches for areas around Joplin and to the south. This is what led to many flash flood warnings earlier today along with multiple road closures in Joplin and Neosho. Fortunately, the system is out of here and we’ll enjoy dry weather for the next few days.
