Joplin joins other area schools ending mask requirements

JOPLIN, Mo. – Some 4-State students will return to class without masks.

On Tuesday night, the Joplin School Board voted to end the school’s mask requirements. The move comes as the district looks to return to some semblance of normalcy.

Superintendent Melinda Moss told KOAM, “I’m excited about it. I think there is fatigue in our community for it. I first of all want to say how proud I am of our students, of our faculty and staff – they have all done remarkably well with the masking this year and far exceeded my expectations for that.”

Neosho’s district-wide mask mandate ends on May 26, 2021. Pittsburg also ended its mask mandate in schools.
