Shirley Anne Stubbs, 78, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at her home. Shirley was born March 12, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Merle Edwin Hites and Helen Leota (Wilson) Hites. She was a 1961 graduate of East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Shirley married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Robert Stubbs, on November 23, 1962 in Des Moines. She worked as a licensed cosmetologist in Iowa and then in Missouri. She enjoyed participating in online discussions, antiquing, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert Stubbs; a daughter, Laurel Anne Stubbs, Springdale, Arkansas; a son, Robert Russell Stubbs (Kimberly), Greenbrier, Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Bethany Alyssa Stubbs, Matthew Robert Stubbs, and Hannah LeeAnn Stubbs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Edwin Merle Hites, James David Hites, Robert Harold Hites, William Columbus Hites and Donald Dennis Hites; and a sister, Dolores Hites Foust.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am at Knell Mortuary.
