ATLANTA, Ga. – The CDC says most fully vaccinated Americans no longer need to be tested for covid-19, even if exposed to an infected person. Health officials say those who are fully vaccinated face minimal risk of developing serious illness or passing it along to others.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Two people are dead following a crash on Highway NN south of Joplin. Authorities with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say a car driven by 50-year old James Uitts ran off the road, hit a ditch, a telephone pole, overturned, and then hit some trees. Uitts and an eight-year old passenger, both from Joplin, were pronounced dead on the scene.

PARSONS, Kan. – The Click-it or Ticket-it campaign is back in the 4-state area, and kicked off on Friday. Law enforcement agencies across the country are increasing their presence on the roads to aggressively enforce occupant restraint and other traffic laws. The Parsons Police department is one of the agencies participating, and their Kansas campaign is supported by a grant from K-Dot. They say their goal is to drastically reduce the number of preventable deaths and injuries that occur when people ignore seatbelts, and note that half of all Kansas road fatalities occur among people who weren’t wearing them.

JOPLIN, Mo. – St. Mary’s Catholic Church works on plans to create a permanent fixture where a cross still stands in Joplin following the tornado. Church leaders say they plan to create something the public can put to use. So, they’re redesigning it, by adding three inter-locking circles out of concrete displaying the words hope, faith, and charity. St. Mary’s leaders say they want to give people a place to gather, pray, and reflect. They hope to complete the project within the next year.
