Ramona Elaine Dowty of Miami, OK passed from this life Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was 87.

Ramona was born December 12, 1933 in Miami, OK to Joe and Ruth (Covey) Jones. She had lived in the Miami area all her life. Ramona graduated from Miami High School Class of 1952. She worked for Miami Nursing Center and Heritage House Nursing Home in Miami and for Jim Thomas Funeral Home and Paul Thomas Funeral Home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Miami, OK where she was involved in various ladies organizations within the church. She was a volunteer at Miami Baptist Hospital and was a member of the Miami Travel Club and Professional Business Women’s Association.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband Dustin Milton Dowty, September 15, 1987, 1 son Phillip Dowty, her parents, 1 brother Larry Jones and 1 sister Iris Jones.

Survivors include 2 sons, Lance David Dowty of Miami, OK and Christopher Michael Dowty and his wife Mary of Cocoa, FL, 2 daughters, Elaine Ray of Miami, OK and Joyce Ann Dowty of Miami, OK, 4 grandchildren, Angee Tinsley of Miami, OK, Shannon Furnish of Bernice, OK, Zachary Furnish of Pryor, OK and Jason Foster Dowty of Cocoa, FL and 5 great grandchildren, Tyler Tinsley, Wesley Furnish, Briana Suppes, Dustin Dowty and Emily Dowty

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Miami, OK with Rev. Rick Longcrier officiating. Interment will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK. Zachary Furnish, Wesley Furnish, Tyler Tinsley, Jason Foster Dowty, Ryan Lovell and Wes Suppes will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. In lieu of flowers you may donation to the First Baptist Church of Miami, OK.
