Dewey “Sonny” Gene Vanderhoff

Dewey “Sonny” Gene Vanderhoof, age 85, of Marionville, Missouri, passed away at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021, at his home. He was born June 30, 1935, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of George Dewey and Georgia Bell (Bailey) Vanderhoof.

Sonny was a 1954 graduate of Marionville High School. He was a supervisor for Syntex in Verona, Missouri where he worked for 33 years. He was a member of the McKinley Christian Church.

On May 28, 1954, he married Ovella Dorene Johnson in Marionville, Missouri.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ovella; one daughter, Michele Edmondson and her husband, Oren, of Aurora, Missouri; three sons, Monty Vanderhoof and his wife, Pat, of Crane, Missouri, Marty Vanderhoof and his wife, Jennifer, of Aurora and Mark Vanderhoof and his wife, Susan, of Marionville; four grandchildren, Briceton Vanderhoof and his wife, Candie, of Republic, Missouri, Travis Vanderhoof of Lawrence, Kansas, Danielle Rice and her husband, Chris, of Galena, Missouri and Skyler Jones of Marionville; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Mae Maples of Springfield, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, George, and Georgia and eleven brothers and sisters.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Williams Funeral Home, in Marionville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Marionville IOOF Cemetery.
