Colgan’s Millie Stockard selected for KVA All-Star game

PITTSBURG, Kan. – St. Mary’s Colgan senior Millie Stockard has been selected to play in the Kansas Volleyball Assocation All-Star game this summer.

“It was awesome,” Stockard says when she found out she had been picked to play in the game, “Some of the girls that are going to be playing with me in the game, and maybe even my teammates in the game, I’ve played against so I kind of know their strategies and talents. So that will be really cool.”

Stockard was a 1st team All-State selection for Colgan her senior year, and is a 4X All-Conference selection. She finishes her high school career with 1,541 kills and 1,313 assists, while also adding 640 digs and 35 blocks.

She is currently playing softball for the Panthers, but she’s looking forward to the opportunity to get back on the volleyball court this summer, playing with some of the best in the state.

“I haven’t played in a while,” Stockard says, “I haven’t really been in volleyball mode since the season, so I’m excited for that.”

The KVA All-Star game in June won’t be the last time Stockard will step on the volleyball court.

Stockard is committed to play for Ave Maria University next season, a private Catholic college in Florida.

“Obviously, my faith is really important to me,” Stockard says on the decision to play at Ave Maria, “I got introduced to the school because my cousins play football there. I decided to go on a visit and the campus was gorgeous. I fell in love with the campus right away. It was built in 2003, so it’s all super new and super modern, and there’s a beach thirty minutes away. I’m excited about that aspect of it.”

Being selected to the KVA All-Star game is just one of many honors for the Colgan standout – but she says she most proud of the team’s accomplishments in her time as a Panther.

“I couldn’t have gotten any of those awards or honors without my teammates pushing me to get there. They’re amazing,” Stockard says, “I’m so proud of my team. All of the teams I’ve played on, from freshman year to now, have been amazing. Especially this team from my senior year. We are all really close, and I’m really proud of them.”

The KVA All-Star game will be June 5th in Topeka, Kansas.
