Missouri Senate bill would create prescription monitoring program

MISSOURI — A bill designed to keep tabs on controlled substances is gaining traction at the Missouri capitol.

Senate Bill 63 would create a statewide Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, or PDMP. Missouri is the only state in the union without one, although many areas including Jasper and Newton Counties are part of a voluntary version.

The issue has been debated at the state house for years, but repeatedly failed due to concerns over patient privacy.
