Joplin, Missouri: Charles H Jones, age 61, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 following an illness.

Charlie was born in Joplin, MO on November 29, 1959 to Paul Hunter Jones and H. Gaynell (Olds) Jones. He lived in Joplin most of his life and had various jobs in construction, concrete work and building maintenance.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching movies and was a good cook. He was affectionately called “Uncle Chuck” by his many nieces and nephews. They fondly remember that he took them fishing and liked a good joke, often tormenting them with “the Claw”.

He was preceded in death by both parents and is survived by one son, Mark Slade of Springfield, MO; a granddaughter, Harmony of Springfield; a brother, David Jones of Carthage, MO; 4 sisters, Debra Chester and husband Ray of Carl Junction, MO, Sherrie Smith of Joplin, Paula Parise of Duenweg, MO, Cindy Stevens and husband, Mike of Springfield,, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pallbearers will be nephews and cousins. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, MO.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at the funeral home.
