JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin police release the identity of the motorcyclist killed in a wreck Friday evening. Authorities say Lionel Carr, 31, of Joplin died in a crash involving a passenger car. The driver of that car was identified as Machhendra Kayastha, 69, of Webb City, Missouri.

According to police the wreck happened on 2800 block of south Rangeline Road around 4:56 p.m. The Carr was transported to a local hospital but later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Kayastha was also transported to a local hospital and was last reported in critical condition.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
