ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Rioting inmates at the St. Louis jail broke out of their cells Sunday night. Inmates broke windows and set fires following their voiced concerns about conditions at the jail and covid concerns. Law enforcement responded and brought the jail under control Monday morning. At this time its unclear whether anyone was injured. The jail’s been the site of multiple riots over the past several months, that includes an uprising in February involving more than 100 detainees.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Week two of Derek Chauvin’s murder trial begins today in Minneapolis. The former police officer is accused in the death of George Floyd. Witnesses are expected to include the city’s police chief who has condemned Chauvin’s actions in the past. Chauvin has pleaded not guilty.

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. – The Crawford County Sheriff’s office begins a death investigation following an early morning fire. Officials say they received a 911 call about a house fire on south 250th street just south of Mulberry just after 3:30am Sunday morning. While firefighters were putting the fire out, an adult female was found dead inside the home. Crawford County Sheriff Danny Smith says investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s office were contacted and the body has been transported to Kansas City for an autopsy. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet and the investigation is ongoing.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Another early morning fire, this one in Joplin, left a building heavily damaged. This fire happened at 1330 South Wall Avenue near downtown. The building suffered smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
