PITTSBURG, Kan. – Police arrest a man after an alleged kidnapping in Pittsburg, Kansas.
On Thursday morning, Feb. 25, 2021 around 10:25 a.m., Pittsburg Police officers responded to Bo’s One-Stop in reference to reported shots fired at a nearby home.
Police met with the victim, an 18-year-old, at Bo’s One-Stop. She told police her estranged boyfriend was at her home on the 1100 block of W. 2nd Street. He reportedly was in an agitated condition and had a handgun.
The female victim said there was a “disturbance” between her and him, and that she was able to escape from the home.
As she left the home, she told police he discharged the firearm. She went to Bo’s One-Stop for help.
The Pittsburg Police Department says there were no reported injuries.
Detectives and officers went to the victim’s home where the estranged boyfriend had barricaded himself within. A patrol officer started talking to the man, who turned himself in shortly after without further incident.
Police found a handgun during the investigation, which they discovered was reported stolen out of Joplin, Missouri.
Pittsburg officers arrested the man and are requesting charges of felony kidnapping, felony aggravated assault, felony possession of a stolen firearm, misdemeanor domestic battery and misdemeanor unlawful discharge of a firearm.
The investigation is ongoing.
