Carthage considering tax on online sales

CARTHAGE, Mo. — A Southwest Missouri town is considering whether to ask voters to tax online sales.

Carthage Council members will discuss a potential use tax question for an election later this year. The proposed ballot would mirror the current sales tax rate of two and three-quarters of a cent. A yes vote would put the question to residents at the polls in august.

The Carthage Council meets tomorrow night at 6:30 at Carthage City Hall.
