HVAC fire leads to evacuation at Mercy Cassville

 

CASSVILLE, Mo. – Mercy staff in Cassville evacuate patients after a fire starts in an HVAC unit.

According to Sonya Kullman, Public Relations with Mercy Springfield, a fire started at Mercy in Cassville around 6:30 a.m. in one of the HVAC units on the roof. The staff quickly evacuated the six patients before fire crews arrived.

Crews put out the fire. Kullman says there is smoke and water damage to a quarter of the building.  The power is off as well back up generators.  The patients are now at Mercy in Aurora, Missouri.  No one was injured.

Mercy in Cassville is a small hospital with 18 beds. On average, they normally have six patients or less, according to Kullman.
