Woman fleeing St. Louis shooting killed in car crash

ST. LOUIS – An 18-year-old woman is dead after the car she was in crashed into a concrete median as the driver tried to speed away from a shooting. The incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday in north St. Louis. The victim’s name has not been released. Police say a BMW was traveling on Natural Bridge Road at a high rate of speed when the driver left the roadway and struck the barrier and a railing, causing the car to catch fire. Police say the driver had been shot several time and was fleeing the shooting scene. He is hospitalized in critical but stable condition. The woman in the car was burned and died at the scene.
