James Paul Robson

Paul Robson, 82, passed to be with the Holy Father on February 15th, 2021.

James Paul Robson, “Jim”, was born in Joplin Missouri, on December 10, 1938. As an adolescent, Jim was an avid photographer. He worked at the Joplin KODE radio and TV stations during televisions infancy, filming news reports and onsite commercials. He turned one of his mom’s closets into a dark room where he would develop pictures for the school’s yearbooks. Jim loved basketball but being one of the smaller players he struggled to make the athletic teams. He later formed a community league and basketball team named the “Robson Runts” using the name to inspire a group of kids in the townhome complex.

Jim graduated from Joplin High School in 1956. Soon after graduation he attended Joplin Junior College and with his brother was a member of the Missouri National Guard. He transferred to Pittsburg State University and earned a bachelor’s in business, majoring in accounting. After college Jim moved to New York and joined Haskin’s & Sells becoming a CPA auditing
major companies throughout the world. He continued his auditing career in Kansas City and then Houston eventually moving into the oil business, first as a Senior Accountant, VP of Finance and then brokering oil deals in the early 80’s. Jim transitioned to a successful sales career working for several advertising specialty companies until his retirement in 2016.

A devout Christian and member of Champion Forest Baptist Church, Jim worked to bring God’s word to others. One of his biggest passions was writing poems. He was an accomplished author, writing and publishing 12 books of poetry guided by his strong belief in The Holy Spirit. All of his books contain the words “Of The Heart” in the title and Jim stated “My hope is that each reader will use these poems as a guide and a catalyst to gain insight into the power and love of the Holy Spirit, who was sent as a Comforter by the love and grace of Jesus Christ.”

Surviving family members include son James Robson and his wife Becky of Olathe KS, son Mike Robson and his wife Yolanda of Houston TX, daughter Lora Morgan and her husband Curt of Houston TX, brother Ron Robson of Joplin MO, sister Nancy Anderson and her husband Bill of St. Louis, MO, grandchildren Megan, Sam and Joe Robson of Olathe KS, Ava Robson
of Houston TX, and Emma and Iris Morgan of Houston TX.

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents Ronald and Pauline Robson of Joplin MO.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
