Name released of body recovered from Grand Lake

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Authorities release the name of an Oklahoma man who died after falling through the ice on Grand Lake earlier this week.

On Monday evening, Feb. 15, 2021, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a man in the water near Port Duncan on Grand Lake’s Monkey Island. They called the Grand River Dam Authority Police Department to assist.

GRDA Police recovered the man’s body around 10:00 p.m.

They identified the man as Greg Garner, 53, of Broken Arrow. According to the GRDA Police, they believe Garner went out to get two dogs who had fallen through the ice. He then fell through the ice himself and succumbed to the dangerously cold waters.

They believe the two dogs also drowned.
